The Society of Food Science and Technology, University of Peradeniya has collaborated with EdScale UP for a mission of seeking innovative solutions for the technological advancement of the food industry of Sri Lanka.

Undergraduates, postgraduates and industry professionals will share their knowledge and experience, and utilize them in formulating solutions during FoodTechthon’21. Participants will be given the privilege of attending a series of webinars hosted by experts in Food Science and Technology and industrial professionals, awareness sessions and entrepreneurship programs. The potential ideas that emerge through this competition will be provided the support and the guidance to be developed into a promising start up.

Thematic Areas

Food Science and Technology has a vast amount of applications, hence FoodTechthon’21 intends to recognize and remedy the problems that prevail in the following thematic areas.

Novel Food Product Development

Fresh Produce Handling

Food Packaging

Food Safety and Quality

Human Nutrition and Wellbeing

Key Information

  • Registration will be open from 31st March 6.30 pm to 30th April 11.59 pm.

  • A team must consist of 3 to 5 members including the team leader.

  • Undergraduates of any University, Higher Educational Institute and Vocational Training College, Postgraduates, and Food Industry personnel are eligible to apply.

  • Innovative and unique solutions based on the given 5 thematic areas are expected.

  • The submissions and presentations should follow the given guidelines and rules.
